Today was my first doctor appointment. Good news, we found a heartbeat! Yeah I'm getting fatter for a reason! I asked if she was sure there wasnt two (to justify the extra pounds) and she said I don't know, I was only looking for one. I find myself holding my breath until i can hear that little pitter patter. When it takes a minute I think my heart-rate goes up a few beats faster with anxiety. It was so fun to hear the fast heartbeat, it reminds me of the sound of a train. They say you don't need extra calories during your first trimester, but I can eat a horse at every meal! I always feel so hungry. I can get a footlong at subway and finish it in record time. And then I look at mikes half eaten 6-inch, and I ask "are you gonna finish that?" Everyone says it's okay you're eating for two, but I learned that thats actually not true. So I guess I better just curb the ol appetite.

How fun, I'm am so excited for you. Don't worry too much about packing on the extra pounds. I bet you can't exceed me. I added 50 pounds and I still have 4 more weeks. Yikes. Congrats.

Maybe there's one hiding behind your spleen and they'll find it as you're giving birth (I saw that happen once on tv) and then you'd skip the ominous 4th child and go straight to 5, right?
